At the beginning of January '18, I was very very happy and honored to be included in a 2 part group exhibition in Lyon, with my project "The Buffalo that could not dream". One exhibition taking place in the "Le Bleu de Ciel" gallery and the one I was included in; in the Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon du 1er arrondissement together with White Eagle. This double exhibition "The Way Back" is exceptional in its artistic ambition, with the new documentary spirit that combines images, video installation, texts, documents, sociological reflection on the situation of Amerindians of the Midwestern United States from fantastic Artists like: Stéphane Barbato, Robert Alan Packard, Marie Baronnet, Carlotta Cardana, Marion Gronier and Stephanie Keith.
Part of my exhibition was also a "Masterclass" for current Bachelor photography stundents from Lyon, about my long-term project in Montana. Before the official opening, we had a great talk about the approach and realisation of a bigger project.
It was a wonderfully curated and special event with an unexpected amount of visitors - which was wonderful! As this event was very special for all of us to acknowledge and educate people about the struggle of native Americans. To support the fights for its spiritual and political survival so as not to be completely absorbed by the consumerist culture of present-day America.
During the days in Lyon, we also had a look at the exhibition at the "Le bleu de Ciel" gallery, which was fantastic. From historical photography up to a short film the overall theme of the group exhibition manages to incorporate all different kind of mediums and styles.
Thank you so much for inviting me to exhibit in Lyon! We had wonderful days in Lyon and we will we back. Thank you Lara & Gilles!
